Reflection

I think that I deserve a good grade for my blog, At least an 80 +. I have been trying very hard on my blog posts about my project. I have my project posts on my blog and in my notebook. On my blog, I may be missing at least one post but I will finish that post as soon as I  finish this one. My blog posts answer all the questions they are meant to answer and they include all the information needed to know how far along I am coming on my project about the Design Cycle for the 6th graders.

Design Brief

10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it.
I will be making a GoAnimate video explaining all four parts of the Design Cycle. I will be making this video for 6th graders to test which form of learning the Design Cycle is easier for them.
11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
The requirements for this project are basically a computer with internet access since everything that i will be doing is on GoAnimate.com.
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment?
The limitations for this project might be that we can only work on the project every other day if that student does not have internet access at home.
13. How will you "test" your project?
I will test this project by giving the 6th graders a quiz to check for understanding.

Investigation Comparison- GoAnimate

MEASUREMENTS    SCORE (1-5)
Simplicity                             5
Theme                                  4
Characters                            4
Sound                                   5
TOTAL                              18

Simplicity: Simplicity is important to have but having too much of it, can make it a bit boring. GoAnimate has exactly the correct amount of simplicity. It isn't too simple but its enough for a 6th grader to understand.  GoAnimate has great choices for everything and it is fun and easy to understand the concept you're trying to set by.

Theme: The themes on GoAnimate are very fun and easy to work with. The good thing about GoAnimate is that the themes are there made for you so you don't have to do as much work with. The good thing about the templates on GoAnimate is that there are two free themes for every template you choose. The themes are good because they're easy to understand what's going on, a 6th grader would understand without difficulty.

Characters: The characters are good because they're very diverse and like the themes, there are two characters for every template you choose. You can choose either a male or female of both so the choices are good and very diverse. The characters a good for a 6th grader to understand because they're fun looking and little kids like fun things.

Sounds: The sounds in GoAnimate are very great. Once you have the characters, it gives you the chance to pick the voice desired for that character. The voices available are 2 for male and 2 for female. You can type in whatever it is that you want the animated character to say and the voice choices are made with whichever kind of voice or accent that you want to choose. There is also background music that plays before and after the actual people start talking and it's good because the music goes with the setting and that really grabs people's attention.

Investigation Comparison- Flipbook

MEASUREMENT  SCORE (1-5)
Simplicity                         5
Theme                              1
Character                          2
Sound                               3
TOTAL                         11

Simplicity: The simplicity of this project has to be the most important thing that it has to have. With simplicity, it would make the concept of this project easier for a 6th grader to understand. The simplicity of Flipbook is very high. The template is completely blank and it's up to you to design it to however it is you want.

Theme: Theme's are important for this project because 6th graders seem to understand things better when there is a fun theme to it. Flipbook's themes aren't that great to pick from. There is actually no theme at all, its all up to you to create it and even if you do, it won't be as understandable as if it did have a theme.

Character: The character choices are important to this project, also. Characters make it funner ad easier for kids to understand what you are talking about. The funner the character looks, the easier it is for kids to actually pay attention to the animation. Flipbook's character choices are very low. They are low because they are made so that you can invent them yourself and the tools given to make your own characters aren't that easy to work with to make them fun.

Sounds: The sounds are important for this project because they help the viewer understand with the idea that's going on or that you are trying to set through. Flipbook's sound choices are kept to a minimum also like the rest of the measurements have been because you have to insert the music and the voices on your own. It doesn't provide a variety of choices for you to choose from which would be easier to work with.

Comparing " Go Animate" and "Flipbook "

http://goanimate.com/

flipbook.com

Both of these websites are very fun to create things with. The flipbook is fun because you can actually create whatever you want in whichever way you want it. The animated video is good to create things with because it kind of does the work for you so the setting and the pictures are easier to understand rather than if you draw them yourself. I think that I will end up choosing Go animate  because its easier to work with and you might be able to learn more from it than from the flipbook.

Design Folder

Area of Interaction: Community and Service , Approaches to Learning & Human Ingenuity
Significant Concept: Design Cycle can be used to solve problems
Unit Question: How can my learning help my community? How do I make Sound Choices?
INVESTIGATE: (Write in complete sentences) Identify the Problem
1. What is the problem you need to solve? Explain to a 6th grader what the design cycle is all about by creating a presentation. (3d, PPT, movie, game, Poster)

2. How does the Design Cycle apply to the real world?
We use the design cycle everyday without noticing it.
3. How will this project serve my community?
By making them realize that we use it everyday.
4. How can my learning help my community?
Make this world a better place.
5. How do we live in relation to each other?
We’re all human beings and we do things alike.
6. How does this help others?
Helps teach them what the design cycle is.
7. What are the requirements for this assignment?
Do your section you got assigned in class.
8. What is the Design Cycle?
A cycle  that helps organize what we do.
REFLECT on your learning.
Day 2
9. Spend one day experimenting with DESIGN CYCLE your presentation. List five things your learned about the Design Cycle:
Day 3
Design Brief
10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment?
13. How will you "test" your presentation?
REFLECT ON YOUR LEARNING
PLAN:
14. Brainstorm ideas. Use the chart below
IB Brainstorming Chart .pdf found in schoology under “materials”& then files
15. What idea did you choose to demonstrate the design cycle and why did you choose it?
16. Does your idea meet all of the requirements?
17. Use the story board paper below to plan your presentation.  Include how many levels you will have, what will be on each level, how will you include teaching skills to young students, and what will your questions be about.
story board.pdf found in schoology under “materials” & then files.
18. Explain how you will use your time to get your project finished in 12 days:
REFLECT on your learning
EVALUATE:
20. How could you improve your presentation?
21. Does your presentation meet all of the requirements?
22. Share your presentation with at least 2-8th, 3-9th, 4-10th+ friends. What did he/she like about your presentation?
23. Reflect on all the steps of the Design Cycle. What did you do well? What do you need to improve?
